Mondays, September 26, 2011 - October 31, 2011 At the Movies- Movie Support Group
Have you ever left the movies saying that movie was about your life, or that character reminds you of this person or even yourself? It is easy to identify with characters or situations in movies and say to oneself "why couldn't I have done that?" or "I would never have done it that way." This group is designed to help you take a deeper look at a movie and offer you a different perspective on your grief or give you words to describe your feelings that you didn't have before. The movies chosen for this group were selected for a general grieving audience. It is important to attend every week regardless of the loss identified in the movie. Although the movies center on a particular loss there are many emotions and situations that everyone can identify with, regardless of their specific situation.You must register by Friday, September 23, 2011.

Each Monday- 8 Week Session For those who have lost a loved one to suicide
When a person is dealing with the loss of a loved one by suicide, their grief can be complicated. With this in mind, Cornerstone of Hope has planned groups specifically for these survivors. General bereavement issues will be addressed, with particular attention given to the specific needs that arise due to loss from suicide. If you or someone you know is looking for support after a suicide, this group could be just what you need. Time: 6:00-8:00pm (pizza and beverages will be provided)
This 8-week group is designed to allow families to all come on the same evening and receive age appropriate grief support. The information given each week builds on the previous week. It is important for all family members to attend all sessions. Topics will be presented at the same time to every group so that participants will be able to discuss them amongst their own families.
Children’s Group: Ages 6-12 years A professional Art Therapist provides grief education and helps children learn to express their feelings of grief through art projects, games & stories while learning new ways to cope in a safe and supportive environment.
Teen Group: Ages 13-18 years A professional Art Therapist facilitates group discussions related to grief and helps teens discover their personal strengths through creative exploration. Teens will gain a better understanding of the grief process and learn healthy ways to cope with their feelings of grief.
Parent/Guardian Group A trained professional provides education on how families are affected by grief. Parents/Guardians will have opportunities to ask questions specific to parenting a grieving child and gain support in managing their own grief issues.

Individuals seeking grief support and counseling services after the death of a loved one are eligible for bereavement services at Cornerstone of Hope. Please call to schedule an appointment with our grief counselor to determine readiness for group support and individual counseling needs. Our professional staff is dedicated to guiding the bereaved on the path toward hope, healing, and health. In the spirit of Christ, we welcome and serve all seeking support.Minimal one time fee for services.
