96, of Findlay, Ohio and a long time resident of Lyndhurst passed away Monday, December 31, 2018 at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 24, 1922 to the late Alvin and Catherine Briden. She married James (Jimmy) J. O'Brien on October 16, 1948. They shared 54 wonderful years together. Surviving is her daughter Barbara Lynn Routson (Reginald), Findlay, Ohio and cherished grandson Tyler Routson (Colleen), Studio City, California, and brother Bernard Briden, Dunedin, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Elizabeth Graisa, Edward Briden, Norman Briden, Mary Alice Briden, Alvin Briden Jr. and Richard Briden. Colette thoroughly enjoyed transporting children with hearing impairments for the Mayfield City School System. This lead to her daughter Barbara's interest in special needs children where she pursed a thirty year teaching career in Deaf Education. Colette was a life long member of St. Clare Catholic Church. She was a dedicated volunteer at Hillcrest Hospital where you were always greeted with a smile on Monday evenings. First and foremost, Colette was a 'lady'. She enjoyed organizing luncheons with her friends, playing bridge and pinochle, attending musical concerts, surrounding herself with company and entertaining in her beautiful home. There will be a private burial at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 19th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare Catholic Church, 5659 Mayfield Road in Lyndhurst. Barbara's amazing friends have given her great support and love throughout her mom's journey and she would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to all of them.
