DOROTHY BLASCHAK of Bainbridge Twp, formerly of Empire, OH, passed away Tuesday,

October 26, 2021, at the age of 84.  Beloved wife of the late Harold McConnaughy, devoted

and beloved daughter of Mary and Joseph Blaschak (deceased), devoted sister of Eugene (Norma, deceased), Richard (deceased)(Carol), loving aunt of Shelley (Mike), Mark (deceased), Kevin (deceased), Karen Blaschak, Alison (Scott) Pelletiere and great aunt of many nieces and a nephew.  While in high school, she was active in School plays and a member of the school choir.  She was involved in State competitions at Kent State University where she rated "superior" for her singing ability.  She, also, had the opportunity to join the Pittsburg Little Opera, but she received a scholarship to Kent State to pursue a teaching career.  She received her B.S. and Master of Education at Kent State University and obtained 60 hours of work from Ashland University toward a Doctorate degree.  She taught first grade for 36.6

years in the Maple Hts., City Schools.  In 1976, she was inducted into Who's Who of Education in Washington DC as one of the outstanding leaders in elementary education.  After 36 plus years of teaching she decided to retire, but that didn't last long for she taught pre-school children for several years after retirement. She enjoyed teaching and enjoyed watching the children grow physically,

emotionally and educationally.  She was a member of Holy Angels Church and choir.  She had the

opportunity to travel abroad with the choir to sing at the Vatican in Rome.  She was always giving of herself and had a great sense of humor.  She'll be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Mass

of Christian Burial will by Friday, October 29 ^th at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Angels Church 18205 Chillicothe Rd,

Chagrin Falls.  Family will receive friends 10:30 to 11:00 A.M. Friday prior to mass at the church.
