Fred W. Lindecke passed away on March 8, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (nee Goldring) for over 65 years; dearest father of Steven (Elizabeth) Lindecke of Cleveland, OH and Stacy (Snehal) Desai of Pittsburgh, PA; loving grandfather of Owen and Elliott Desai and Ryan, Kyle and Lucy Lindecke; brother of Robert (Barbara) Lindecke of St. Louis, MO and brother-in-law of Harlan (Katherine) Goldring; dear uncle and great-uncle. Son of the late Fred C. Lindecke and the late Dorothy Fadeley.

He graduated with a B.A. degree in Journalism in 1956 from Washington University, including a 2-year interruption to serve in the Korean War with the US Army. His extensive career in journalism included United Press International in the Chicago, Milwaukee and Washington D.C offices before joining the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in 1963. He became the Missouri Political Correspondent in 1967 and retired in 1997.

He loved supporting the Cardinals, Blues and Rams and held tickets to the Indy 500 for nearly four decades. From 1978 to 1994 he wrote five plays primarily based on his experiences in the Missouri state legislature that were performed by the City Players in St. Louis.

The family will gather for a private memorial service in May to celebrate his life and the joy he experienced at the Indianapolis 500 speedway.
