NEUFFER HELGA NEUFFER (nee Sigurdardottir), 75, of Solon, OH went into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2015. Helga was born February 24, 1940 in Reykjavik, Iceland, daughter of the late Sigurdur Gudni Kristinn Jonsson and Thora Sigridur Helgadottir. Helga married the late Alan F. Neuffer Sr. on November 24, 1961 at the Frikirkjan Church in Iceland. She studied cosmetology and worked abroad in London and Glasgow. Helga served on various committees within Solon Community, PTA, Solon Swim Club, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and American Cancer Society. She was a Deacon at Wayside Presbyterian Church and served on the 50th anniversary committee at Pioneer Memorial Presbyterian Church. Most recently, Helga served on the inaugural Solon Senior Council advocating for senior services. Helga was an active community member at the Solon Senior Center participating in Senior Olympics, playing cards, Bocce, and Wii Bowling. Her friends acknowledged her competitive fun spirit and was known to be a card shark. She also used her artistic creativity to knit baby blankets, hats and made jewelry. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Senior Center. Helga was known for being a loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend. She is survived by her children Alan F. Neuffer Jr., Kristin (Robert) Ricciardelli and Jon Neuffer; her grandchildren Emily, Jacob and Zachary Neuffer; Nicholas, Matthew and Christian Ricciardelli; her brother Jon Sigurdsson (Kalla Karlsdottir); her nephews Trausti Haflidason (Kristin Gisladottir) and Sigurdur Steinar Jonsson; her niece Thora Kristin Jonsdottir; her grandnephew Tomas Gisli Traustason; her grandniece Sigrun Traustadottir. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 2015 at 11:30am at the Pioneer Memorial Presbyterian Church, 35100 Solon Road, Solon, OH. Interment on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:45am at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH 44273. Flowers can be sent in honor of Helga to the Pioneer Memorial Presbyterian Church.
