Helmut Joseph Russ, age 78, of Solon, Ohio, passed away on March 16, 2021.  Helmut was born in Rann, Yugoslavia and immigrated with his family to the United States at a young age in 1950.  He grew up in Mayfield, and then resided in Solon since 1970.  He was the owner of A-R Design and Tool, Inc., a mechanical engineering firm.

Helmut was dedicated to all that he pursued, and brought a guiding essence to his family.  He enjoyed his career as an engineer and used his knowledge to complete any project around the house.  He loved being outside and looked forward to the warmer months in which he could hike in the Metroparks with his wife.  He relished spending time with his family and derived great joy and pride from his daughters and grandchildren.  Helmut was an avid sports fan and coach.  He looked forward to his grandchildrens' endeavors each new sporting season.  He was the proudest fan in the crowd attending all of their games.  Some of his favorite moments were spent on a softball diamond or the golf course.  He anxiously awaited his Thursday afternoon golf outings with his grandsons.  His determined work ethic and talents have been passed down to each of his daughters and his grandchildren.

He will be forever loved and missed by Bonnie, his beloved wife of 54 years; his two daughters and their spouses:  Sandra (Don) Kruschke and Marci (Peter) Reed; and his grandchildren:  Luke and Jack Kruschke, and Liam, Ben, and Samantha Reed; and his sister:  Trudy Lauber.  Helmut was predeceased by his parents:  Rudolph and Maria Russ; and his brother:  Rudolph Russ, Jr.

To pay tribute to Helmut's life, we ask that you light a memorial candle in his honor.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
