Jerry J. Brdicka, a longtime resident of Solon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 20 at the age of 96. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Brdicka, and their children; Wayne, Gail (Thomas), Brenda (Mark), and Barbara (Joseph). He was the adored grandfather of Keaton, Mitchell, Sarah, Scott, Kevin, Daniel, and Sabrina. Jerry was predeceased by his first son, David, as well as his brother, Charles, and sister, Elsie.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Jerry graduated from East Tech High School with perfect attendance from kindergarten through 12th grade, a testament to his diligence and commitment.  He served his country honorably during the Korean War as a member of the U.S. Army's 8th Field Artillery Battalion, 25th Infantry Division. After his discharge, Jerry embarked on a 30-year career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he served the University Heights community with the same dedication, navigating his route through snow, rain, heat, and nightly.

Jerry met his wife, Gerry, at Komensky Hall, where their shared love of polka dancing brought them together. The two married in 1956 and later settled in Solon, Ohio. Jerry was known in his neighborhood for his meticulously kept lawn, well-maintained cars, and abundant vegetable gardens, where he proudly grew bushels of tomatoes.

An avid sportsman, Jerry bowled and golfed. A lifelong Cleveland sports fan, Jerry had the rare joy of witnessing championships for his beloved Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers, a highlight in the life of any dedicated fan.

In his retirement, Jerry and Gerry spent over 20 winters in Vero Beach, Florida, where Jerry embraced his role working with the Los Angeles Dodgers during spring training, while also perfecting his tan and his golf swing. He treasured his time with family.
