KARL JAMES ZINKAN 82, of Solon, OH. Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend was born in Indianapolis on Christmas eve, 1938. The son of Karl J. Zinkan and El Vera (Klafzinksy) Zinkan. He graduated from Cathedral High School and Butler University. Jim started his long career in water treatment for the Nalco Corporation servicing cargo ships on the Great Lakes before moving into sales for the Mogul Corporation in Chagrin Falls, OH. Rising to the rank of General Sales Manager. Jim eventually started his own specialty chemical company, Zinkan Enterprises, and lead the company for 20 successful years. After a long and well-respected career building the business, he sold the company and retired. Ever a generous and loving spirit Jim gave much of his time, talent and treasure to organizations such as Northeastern Ohio chapter of the ALS Association after his first wife Dalene M. Zinkan (nee Pietro) passed in 2003. A staunch Catholic, Jim attended St. Joan of Arc in Chagrin Falls for many years and became a loyal parishioner of Holy Angels parish in Bainbridge, OH. An avid golfer, he enjoyed many years being a member of first Tanglewood CC of Bainbridge and then Signature of Solon CC. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Jenny) Zinkan (nee Maasdorp), brother David P. Zinkan and spouse Linda of Roswell, GA. He is also survived by his children, son Brian J. Zinkan and wife Sandra M. Zinkan, daughters Suzanne M. Carter (Zinkan) and husband James C. Carter Jr. of Wake Forest, NC, Nancy E. Hogan (Zinkan) and husband Thomas C. Hogan of Cincinnati, OH, Penelope Tervalon and husband Mark Tervalon of Center Valley, Pennsylvania, and Pamela Staff of Solon, OH. He is also survived by his adoring grandchildren, Alexander Zinkan, Christopher Zinkan, Nicholas Hogan, Grace Hogan, Magdalene Hogan, Alyssa Carter, Lindsey Carter, Michaela Carter, Robert Wolgelmuth, David Tervalon, Sam Gwatkin, Katherine Gwatkin and Ryan Staff. Jim was preceded in death by his brother John (Jack) F. Zinkan of Jacksonville, FL. Jim's generous spirit will remain with all those who encountered him. Visitation Wednesday at Church of the Holy Angels, 18205 Chillicothe Rd., Chagrin Falls 44023 at 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Hudson.
