MARY JANE NOTTAGE, age 90, passed away on September 20, 2024, at Hamlet at Chagrin Falls. Beloved daughter of Catherine Nottage (nee Dinter) and Charles T. Nottage (both deceased), sister to Richard Nottage of Memphis, TN (deceased), significant other and love of her life for 19 years, Richard Eston (deceased), and survived by second cousins and a host of adoring friends. Mary Jane could always be spotted with her bright red hair and warm smile. Contagious laugh, free spirit, ferocious energy, passion, empathy, generosity, kindness, and sparkle--her true love was the theater…the ARTS. A talented actress--it was her life and passion—she was hooked. Her first job was backstage at Cleveland Play House making pennies but creating a deep friendship with Dom DeLuise that lasted a lifetime. Studied in New York under Uta Hagen, was asked out by Dustin Hoffman—came back to Cleveland and was the Goddess of the original Dobama Theatre order. Her talents were displayed at Dobama, Karamu, Ensemble, NonToo-Fragile, Mamai, Hanna, Cassidy, Clague, Actor's Summit, Chagrin Valley, Lakeland, Tri-C, Baldwin-Wallace, Cleveland Public, and more. Mary Jane was also a Media Buyer at several prominent, high-profile Cleveland advertising agencies for 31 years. Know that she was more than ready for ACT TWO. Words cannot express how much she will be missed and loved eternally. Her wishes were to be cremated and placed in a niche at Knollwood Cemetery's Garden Section with no wake or service.
