Maureen T. McCarthy Passed away on January 5, 2023 in Sentara Hospital, Woodbridge, VA, after a brief illness with her son PJ McCarthy and 2 of her sisters by her side.  Maureen married Patrick T. McCarthy in 1971 and they were blessed with 2 sons Patrick J (PJ) and Daniel L.(Danny).   They lived in Reminderville, OH (Aurora Shores) for over 40 years and were active members of the community and St. Rita's Parish.

Maureen is predeceased by her husband Patrick (2010) and son Danny (2014).  She is the dear daughter of the late Mary and Jack O'Laughlin and beloved daughter in law of the late John J and Jean K McCarthy.  She is survived by her son PJ (Amy) McCarthy and her five grandchildren, Patrick, Brannan, Rylen, Michael and Deedra who reside in Gallatin, TN.

Her family roles of beloved wife, devoted mother and dearest grandmother were the most important aspects of her life.  Maureen graduated from Geibel Catholic High School in 1966 and Villa Maria College (now Gannon University) in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.  She worked in many  roles as a nurse at the Cleveland Clinic, Marymount Hospital, and as  an Instructor of Pediatric Nursing at St. John's College.  When asked about her favorite role she would always respond that she loved being a Home Care nurse.  She could take care of her patients and teach them about their illness and how to manage it. This role was very fulfilling to her and she was so loved by her patients.  Her commitment to family was seen in every aspect of her life being a key consultant and caregiver when parents or any family member became sick or hurt.  She was a dear sister to Ellen (Aggie & Tom Phillips), Patty (Don Lewandowski), Kathy (Ed Engelmeier), Eileen O'Laughlin, Norine Spencer and John B. O'Laughlin DVM.

Maureen moved to Northern Virginia in 2018 where she was again Nurse Consultant, support person and babysitter, Aunt Maureen to many nieces and nephews and their families. She will be missed by so many.  Maureen volunteered at Sentara Hospital in the Cardiac Ambulatory Area.  She was also involved in Our Lady of Angels Church and in the Senior Citizen Center in her area.

Per Maureen's wishes, there will be no public viewing.  Family will receive friends at 9:30-10:30 A.M. at Tabone-Komorowski Funeral Home 33650 Solon Road (Just W of S.O.M. Center) followed by Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Rita, 3280 Baldwin Rd., Solon at 11:00 am.  Interment All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution in memory of Maureen McCarthy to Cleveland Clinic Nursing Lavender Lounge to assist nurses with mental health and prevent burnout. https://give.ccf.org/fundraiser/4436341
