Surrounded by family at home, Richard Frank Campola, Sr. peacefully passed away after a brave battle with cancer. The youngest of three boys born to Frank and Angela Campola of Rome, NY, Richard excelled at swimming and often bragged about being on the varsity team in 8th grade.  After graduating high school, Richard went to Oklahoma to attend college where he met the love of his life Cecelia on the very first day of English class.  Shortly after graduating from the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!), Richard and Cecelia got married and drove off in his beloved green Camaro to start a happy family with three children.  Ever the dedicated dad, Richard coached countless baseball, softball and basketball teams for his kids throughout the years.  In 1989, Richard took a job that would relocate his family to the Cleveland area where the family still lives.  More than 20 years ago, Richard took the leap to start his own oil and gas company which he built into a thriving business.  It also allowed him the opportunity to work side by side with his family (and a fair portion of the Mentor Fire Department) which he loved more than anything.  The family grew to add seven grandchildren which he doted on relentlessly.  Nothing in this world made him happier than when he had his entire family under the same roof eating lasagna.  Richard is survived by his beautiful wife of over 49 years, Cecelia (nee Koos) his children Richard Jr. (Lori), Andrea Shaw (Adam), and Sara, his grandchildren Logan, Autumn, Collin, Cody, Carter, Ashlynn and Cole, his brothers Bill (Karen) and Lou (Joanne), and many nieces and nephews.  His kindness, infectious smile, spaghetti sauce, stories, guidance and laughter will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.  Visiting hours will be Saturday, September 3 from 12-2pm followed immediately by a short memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his honor.
