Robert F. Redmond, age 82, of Twinsburg, died on June 22, 2022 after a 5 year battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Karin and her daughters Kasey Palm, M.D. (Russell) and Jessica Roberts. He is also survived by his children from a previous marriage: Judith Gutoskey (David), Anne Redmond, Robert Jr. (Amy), Brian (Laura) and seven grandchildren: Katie, Ellen, Peter and Kevin Gutoskey, Owen and Emily Redmond, Japhy Redmond and step grandson, Heath Palm.

Bob was the youngest of five children: Daniel, William and John, all deceased; and sister, Virginia Grover of Schenectady, N.Y. As he was as an adult, Bob was very active as a boy, serving in various religious and entrepreneurial endeavors as well as cross country and little league baseball. He especially enjoyed caring for horses, especially one spirited horse that he was allowed to ride.

He attended West Philadelphia Catholic HS for Boys where he played varsity tennis, was a member of the rifle club and co-edited a weekend newspaper. Summers were filled with jobs at Berwyn Hardware and Cowan's Flower Shop along with American Legion baseball and restoration of his 1931 Model A Ford.

Bob earned a BS from Villanova University with additional credits in Math and Science. He paid his own tuition from part time work. As usual, Bob was very active in various university activities, but his real love was playing guitar in a folk group, the Four Fifths, performing various venues in Philadelphia and recording a 45 rpm record with sales of 10,000, all prior to graduation in 1961.

Following graduation, he entered the Naval Reserve Aircat Program, starting with boot camp and avionics technical school at Memphis Naval Air Station culminating in a 6-year commitment at Willow Grove Naval Air station in Philadelphia. Bob served as a Radar operator in an S2F anti-submarine search airplane and was commissioned as an Air Intelligence Officer, trained as a patrol plane navigator and awarded his wings. His duties involved flying in P2V patrol aircraft searching for Russian submarines off the east coast of New Jersey, and he left the Navy as a Lieutenant after 11 years when business success led to promotion and a transfer to Cleveland, Ohio.

In February 1962 following his initial 6-month Navy commitment, Bob joined IBM in business development in office equipment, where he won numerous performance awards during his five years in Philadelphia, serving 25 major law firms after a two year stint at University of Penn Hospital.

After getting his MBA at Drexel University, he advanced to Business Planning & Development in mid-town Manhattan where he spent five years and his major contribution involved a "product-use test" for the Selectric Typewriter, which simplified office document revision. This success led to promotion to Marketing Manager in 1972.

In 1978 he left IBM to purchase a residential real estate firm, The Kenny Company, which he sold in 1983 and entered commercial real estate with Ostendorf-Morris Colliers, where he progressed to lead 18 professional and admin staff, a position he held for 10 years. Reorganization at Ostendorf-Morris led Bob to CBRE, where he was employed for the next 12 years, until he was recruited to join the Dallas-based Mohr Partners, where he served as the Ohio Principal Broker.

Bob's unparalleled networking skills, real estate acumen and work ethic over 44 years in real estate resulted in over 1,200 leases and sales of commercial property for a wide variety of clients. Notable deals were sale of the Tower of Galleria and relocation of Ernst and Young's Akron office in 2010 and the Cleveland office in 2013, which involved relocation of 140 employees to the newly constructed Ernst and Young tower in the Flats East Bank.

During his last 10 years, Bob combined real estate with the Solon Department of Transportation, where he enjoyed working with children and the comradery of his fellow drivers, and especially his expert handling of a full size bus.

Since 1978 Bob has served as an officer of several organizations including President of the Cleveland Area Board of Realtors (now ACAR), Director of the Ohio Association of Realtors, and the American Red Cross. He has received many awards including Commercial Realtor of the year, NAIOP office deal of the year, and Office Broker of the year.

A member of the Society of Industrial Office realtors (SIOR), Bob has contributed his expertise and experience to many critical real estate issues on national and regional panels, as well as presentations and relevant articles.

Bob was a Eucharistic minister at St. Anselm church, Chesterland and served on its Finance Committee. He also coached little league baseball and softball in the West Geauga baseball Federation. He has participated in USTA tennis teams representing the Chagrin Valley Athletic Club.

Services will be held at Tabone Komorowksi Funeral Home, located at 33650 Solon Road, Solon OH, 44139 on June 30 th , 2022 from 4:30 p.m.– 6:00 p.m. The celebration of life will continue at Gleneagles Events at 2615 Glenwood Drive, Twinsburg, OH 44087 from 6 -8 p.m.
