Robert R. Ruggles dies Monday, June 8, 2015 of respiratory complications at the age of 94. He was born on April 18th, 1921, the first of two children of the late Joseph J. Ruggles and his wife Anna Juszkiewicz of Cleveland. In 1943 he graduated from Case Institute of Technology with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and taught Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Akron. He warned an MS in Industrial Engineering and worked for Euclid, Inc. which became General Motors' Terex Division. Mr. Ruggles had a very successful career with GM working on extended overseas assignments in Scotland and Brazil. In July of 1946, he married his neighborhood sweetheart, Anne Mechla of Cleveland living in Euclid the Gates Mills where he served as a city councilman. in 1979 he moved to Walden in Aurora where he served as President of the Walden Association and championed the installation of street lighting.
He was predeceased by his brother Joseph Ruggles of Columbus in 2012 and leaves behind Anne his loving wife of 69 years, his daughter Lesley Bailey-Gates, son-in-law Paul Bailey Gates; his son Robert A.; two grandsons, Christopher Bailey-Gates and his wife Sally and their daughter Charlotte; Geoffrey Bailey-Gates.
