Robert Brandt Sundheim Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Solon, Ohio, Thursday, June 11, 2020. He was born November 18, 1936 in Bismarck, North Dakota to immigrant parents – his father, Haakon "Brandt" Sundheim from a family farm in Norway, and his mother, Gwen Pilmoor, from York, England; the family later settled in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 1958 he graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Commissioned a Lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corp, he completed his service in 1965. During that period he received his law degree from The University of Detroit Law School and, in 1963, relocated to the Cleveland area joining a patent law firm. He would later become a partner in another Cleveland firm that would eventually bear his name, today known as Tarolli, Sundheim, Covell & Tummino, LLP. Robert was a member of the Cleveland and American Bar Associations; Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association; American Intellectual Property Law Association. He was also a member of the Cleveland Athletic Club and Canterbury Golf Club. He was an avid golfer and preferred to spend his free time playing as much golf as he could, and even once mused that he would love to be buried one day somewhere along Canterbury's legendary 16th fairway. Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Bailey. He is survived by his sister, Gail Hoss of Sandspit, British Columbia, his daughter Kirsten Thomas (Toby) and sons Robert Sundheim (Darlene) and Thomas Ballentine (Luka DeKelaita), his grandchildren Eva, Bridget, Michael and Haakon Sundheim, step-father for forty years to daughters Laurel Baldwin (Michael Read), Sarah Terselich (Danilo), Susanne Svette (Mark) and grandchildren Bailey Baldwin (Kolbrin Vitek), Lucas and Ali Read, Tristan Terselich, and Grace, Alethea and Margaret Svette. Last but not least he is survived by Quinn, an English Springer Spaniel, his loyal and loving dog and companion of 13 years.
