SAM A. SCAGLIONE, age 89 of Solon passed peacefully on September 17, 2020. Beloved husband of Anne (deceased); dearest father of Jane (John), Michael (Debbie), & Suzanne (Mike-dec); loving grandfather of Nichole(Dan), Matthew, Kelsey(Kyle), Meredith, Kristen, Allison, & Katherine; proud great-grandfather of Eliza & Mackenzie; dear brother of Rose(Marlo-dec) & Lucy(Andy-dec), brother-in-law of Rosemary (Dominick-dec) & Susie(Angelo-dec). Born the eleventh of twelve children, Sam was preceded in death by siblings: Joseph (Marie), Ross (Mary), Lena (Jim), Carl (Josephine), Molly (Tony), Charlie (Lowell), Mary, Domenica, Angelo. He is also survived & loved by many dear nieces, nephews, & cousins. Sam graduated from East Tech High School in 1949 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps reserve. He served during the Korean War and participated in the Chosin Campaign. Sam attended Case Institute of Technology, earning a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1955. He worked for 38 years in various engineering, sales, and management roles. Sam valued education and history and was an avid reader. He enjoyed ROMEO club visits, league golfing and bowling with Anne, and traveling to historical locations or to visit family. Sam will be remembered most for his witty quips and unending love of family. Memorial Services for Sam and Anne will be held at a later date, post pandemic.
