WALTER S. LESTOCK, of Solon.  June 18, 1925 - January 31, 2022.  Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Lestock (nee Rocus) to whom he married in 1950; dear father of Ronald and Elaine (Patrick) Poland; loving grandfather of Nancy Lestock (fiancé Andrew), Elizabeth, Grace, Lily, and Sean Poland; brother to Honey (98), Vee Vee (92), and brother-in-law to Beverly (86).  Son of Stanley and Catherine Lestock, beloved brother of Marie, Felix, Joseph, Francis, Louis and Nellie, all deceased.  Cherished uncle and friend to many.  Walter proudly served as a Naval Aviator in the Pacific theater during WWII.

Walter, aka Grampy/Big Man/Grumpy/Waldy/Pappy/Wallace/Walt/Pa/Pollock/Gramps, was the originator of the catch phrase "holy cats!" Lover of candy, gardening, jell-o, kiszka, cherries, and a hater of cheese and Frankie Yankovic.  He was a master electrician, a jack of all trades, and known for his clever and witty remarks.  Never afraid to speak his mind whether he was "whispering" or telling the same story for the tenth time.  Walter cherished his grandchildren, and you could always catch him wearing school spirit wear to every sporting event he attended.  His children (who he tolerated) remember watching Walter, his wife Elizabeth of 62 years, who he adored, dancing an oberek in the kitchen.  Known for his big heart and great hair, he never let you leave empty handed, whether that be a half a gallon of milk or a sleeve of wafer cookies.  Not only was he known for his kindness and generosity, Walter's untiring work ethic was reflected in everything he did.  Walter was a devout Catholic and a man of great faith who attended mass daily for over 30 years.  He loved his family and will be remembered as a genuine and compassionate man with the utmost integrity.  He will be deeply missed.  Monday February 7, friends and family will be welcomed at Tabone-Komorowski Funeral Home at 9:30 AM –33650 Solon Road, Solon.  Mass of Christian burial at St. Rita Church at 10:30 AM –32820 Baldwin Road, Solon.  Interment All Saints Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Rita's St. Vincent De Paul Society.
